Voltage classes and system types
Our services cover AIS and GIS substations and AC transmission lines up to 765 kV, utility-scale solar, wind, hybrid and battery storage projects with their pooling and evacuation substations, and HVDC bipole and back-to-back schemes up to ±512 kV and 2500 MW.
These figures describe our service range. The assignments on the Projects page show the work we can name publicly, from 66/11 kV substations to 400 kV substations and 33/220 kV pooling stations.

How each service is delivered
| Service | How it is delivered |
|---|---|
| Electrical, civil and structural detailed design | Prepared by CoreGrid |
| Transmission line and tower design | Prepared by CoreGrid |
| Earthing, lightning protection, SCF, sag-tension, cable, battery and lighting calculations | Prepared by CoreGrid |
| Short circuit, load flow, reactive power and insulation coordination studies | Prepared or reviewed, by scope |
| Harmonic and transient studies | By scope, with specialist input where needed |
| BESS sizing and balance of plant | Prepared, with OEM data; battery internals by the OEM |
| HVDC converter-station engineering and studies | As contracted, with the boundary to the converter OEM agreed |
| Pre-bid engineering, offer and GTP review | Prepared by CoreGrid |
| Inspections, FAT and site test witnessing, commissioning and O&M support | As contracted, case by case |
We confirm the delivery basis for each item in the proposal, so the client knows what we prepare, what we review and where specialists are involved.
Codes and standards families
| Family | Examples of use |
|---|---|
| IS / BIS standards | Structural steel, reinforced concrete, loads and seismic criteria, earthing practice, transmission tower materials and loading |
| IEC standards | High-voltage equipment ratings, insulation coordination, short-circuit current calculation and its effects |
| CEA regulations | Technical Standards for Construction of Electrical Plants and Electric Lines Regulations, 2022, as amended; Measures relating to Safety and Electric Supply Regulations, 2023 |
| CBIP recommendations | Substation and transmission practice, where the client’s specification refers to them |
| Utility and owner specifications | Project-specific design criteria, drawing formats, revision and approval conventions |
How we use them. The approved project requirement governs; general codes inform the design and fill gaps. Edition, applicability and amendments are confirmed at the start of each package. This describes working practice and is not a certification.
Design and analysis tools
| Tool | Typical use |
|---|---|
| SES‑CDEGS | Earthing and grounding analysis |
| ETAP | Power system studies |
| PSCAD | Electromagnetic transient simulation, where a study requires it |
| AutoCAD | Drafting and drawing production |
| STAAD.Pro | Structural analysis and design |
| PLS-CADD | Overhead line design, sag-tension and spotting |
| DIALux evo | Lighting calculations |
Whatever the tool, results are documented so they can be reviewed: inputs, assumptions, method and outputs appear in the calculation report. Where a client specifies a particular program or version, we confirm it at the start of the package.
Product names belong to their owners. Listing them describes our working tools; it is not an endorsement or a partnership.
What we are not. CoreGrid is a consulting engineering firm. We do not construct, manufacture or supply equipment, operate plants or own assets, and we do not issue statutory certifications or approvals on behalf of authorities, owners or utilities. Equipment design remains with the manufacturers.
